Have you heard about a spice called “turmeric”? (Yes, the common turmeric you can find in any supermarket). Well, imagine that this simple and cheap spice is actually an amazing superfood that you can easily add to your diet.
Turmeric is a member of the ginger family and has medicinal properties due to its active ingredient – curcumin. There are a lot of reserch being done on this substance and the results have been stunning. I can tell you that aside from giving a nice flavour to a lentil dish this spice kicks ass, girl!
There are dozens of benefits from this spice (like antiviral, antibacterial, antioxidant, antiaging, antifungal, anticarcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, antimutagenic) but the ones I want you to know are:
Turmeric is consired the top-antiaging spice due to its high content in antioxidants. Of of the main reasons that ages the body is the high amount of free radicals, so if you start having more antioxidants than free radicals the aging process will strongly slow down. Got it?! For this purpose, you can have a glass of warm water + juice of 1/2 lemon + 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder first thing in the morning.
RELIEVES MENSTRUAL CRAMPS
Babe, this spice is about to become your best friend! One of the many properties of turmeric is antispasmodic meaning that it calms down the spasms that happen during menstruation. Also, because during this time of the month the uterus is inflammed, turmeric’s strong anti-inflammatory properties play an important role on relieving the whole discomfort. If you have been suffering from menstrual cramps take a tea/glass of water + 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder in 2 times/day 2 weeks prior to your menstruation.
Turmeric is great on the treatment of digestive issues such as stomach aches, gas, diarrhoea and excessive bloating. It also improves the body’s ability to digest fats (it supports the weight loss process). So if you’re having any stomach upset or you know you’ll eat fatty foods (I know you won’t, but… ; ) take 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder dissolved in a glass of water 20 minutes before a meal.
This vital organ gets pretty overwhelmed when you drink alcohol, take medicines or when it has too many toxins or fat. A nice help you can give the liver is drinking a glass of warm water + juice of 1/2 lemon + 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder first thing in the morning.
Turmeric is the real “queen of spices” that will rock your body and I highly recommend you having it everyday. It is very easy to do it and it’s impact on you youth and health are really amazing.
Note: don’t take turmeric in case you suffer from stomach ulcers or gallbladder disease.
